Drain leaks happen when small amounts of water seep around the drain connected to the tub or shower. Plastic and fiberglass tubs and showers tend to flex when standing on them. When you need fast, reliable plumbing service, call Big B's Plumbing today. We provide service to Menifee, Temecula, Sun City, Murrieta, Wildomar, Winchester, Lake Elsinore, and surrounding areas. Water Leak Repair for Toilets

Toilet leaks happen when the flange and wax ring meets the waste pipe. As a result, water will seep out around the toilet's base. Some signs of a toilet leak are damaged flooring around the commode and stains on your ceiling below. Something to keep in mind, if your toilet moves, even slightly, it will break the wax ring seal between the toilet and flange. A wax ring will usually last as long as the toilet, 20 to 30 years, but it may need replacing sooner for various reasons. Another common toilet leak is a worn-out flapper. According to some experts, a worn-out flapper can account for 200 gallons of water wasted daily. As a side note, if your toilet was built before 1992, chances are it uses 3.5 gallons a flush (GPF), and replacing it with a toilet that uses 1.6 GPF is a wise choice.

Catch a Sink Leak Before it Causes Damage

Sink leaks can take place at any plumbing joint. You'll usually discover a sink leak when you see moisture under your kitchen sink or vanity in your bathroom. If it has been occurring for some time, you may even see signs of mold. Examine underneath your cabinet to check for any signs of swollen particleboard. These leaks may not significantly change your water usage but can add up over time and cause significant damage.

One Drop Per Second Can Lose 3,000 Gallons of Water per Year

WaterSense® is an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) program designed to conserve water. According to their research, 10% of all homes in the USA have leaks that waste 90 gallons of water per day. A hole that drips at a rate of one drop per second can lose 3000 gallons of water per year, not to mention the damage it will cause if it occurs in your home. Trust the expert for your water leak repair at Big B's Plumbing Company.

What About a Major Pipe Leak?

Detecting small leaks can be a challenge. Conversely, a burst pipe will be apparent so let's hope you're at home when it happens. The first thing you want to do is turn off the main water line to the house. Then call Big B's Plumbing about your emergency water leak repair. Frozen water can cause pipes to burst. Though this is not common in California, other factors include poorly installed pipes.

How Can I Locate a Leak Myself?

My water bill went up for no apparent reason. We have no visual signs of a leak. What can we do? Let's take a few steps to locate the leak in your home. Leaks can be hard to find and occur in many different hidden places.

How To Check For A Water Leak:

1. Turn off all the water in your home.

2. Go to your water meter. It's usually in the front yard.

3. Look carefully at the leak indicator. It is either a triangularly shaped dial or a small silver wheel.

4. You'll know you have a leak if the dials are moving and all the water is off.

Another sure way of checking for a leak:

1. Have a pen and paper handy so you can take a meter reading and write it down.

2. Wait an hour and take another water meter reading. If your meter reading goes up, chances are you have a leak.

3. Once you've identified a leak, turn off the main irrigation shut-off valve. The shut-off valve is usually located in the front yard, garage, or near your outdoor faucet.

4. Once everything is shut off and NO water is being used, recheck your water meter. If there is no movement in your meter reading, your leak is coming from your outside irrigation.

What People Are Saying...

I called Big B's Plumbing because I the hot water would not turn off in our master bathroom. I tried to turn the valve off under the sink and it broke off, so I had to shut off the main water to the house. It was noticeable the valves were original to the home. When I called, the rep stated that I would be informed about the service tech and their experience along with services offered "On The Spot". I was on a bit of a time crunch...

Found them on Google and they had good quality reviews. Made the call and set up the appointment for same day. Dispatch called me a few hours later to confirm our appointment and let me know that the technician Mathew was on the way. This was supposed to be an easy job once Mathew arrived. But it turned out to be so much more than that. Without hesitation or a sour look on his face, he dove deep into his van...
